Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, is about to present a detailed strategy for the company's loss-making new businesses at the board meeting on 26th May. Air India and Tata Digital ventures have absorbed a huge amount of investments but are unprofitable. The board meeting will also discuss Noel's pointed questions related to the new business performance.
Tata Sons' new businesses have made Rs 29,000 crore in losses in 2026, higher than the projected amount of Rs 5,700 crore. Other businesses, Tata 1 mg, Croma, Tata CliQ and Tata Digital are a major concern. In the Feb meeting, Neol pointed out the importance of capital discipline and said that Tata Sons must be unlisted. Some board members said that new businesses take time to mature.
