LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) is soon going to increase its stake in HDFC Bank. RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has approved LIC to acquire HDFC Bank's 9.99% voting rights.HDFC Bank has shared these details with the stock exchange. LIC has received approval and can acquire additional shares of HDFC Bank. LIC currently has a 4.11 percent stake in HDFC Bank.
LIC will have to comply with rules while increasing its stake, including the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, as per SEBI regulations and RBI's shareholding guidelines of 2025 FEMA. The net profit of HDFC Bank in the first quarter was Rs 19,059.72 crore. The net interest income of HDFC Bank is Rs 33,535.95 crore, and HDFC Bank's net interest margin was 3.40 percent on interest-earning assets. The average deposit of HDFC Bank has increased by 10.85 year-on-year, and advances have reached 30.115 billion, but the asset quality of HDFC Bank has declined. Gross NPA has increased to 1.17 percent in June 2026.
