Restructing Of India's IT Service Industry Valued At $315 Billion

Now, there is a silent layoff, and job cuts are seen as normal in the tech sector of India. This year, 35,000 job losses are expected due to AI. The Indian tech sector is restructuring into a new phase worth $315 billion. TeamLease firm expects that there were 10,000 to 15,000 layoffs in 2026 till May and expects a layoff of 25,000 to 35,000 in this year.  CEIL HR Services expects that by 2026, there will be 12,000 job cuts.
 
There were a total of 43,000 job losses in 2025 and 2026, and silently, the job losses are taking place due to skill relevance and performance reviews. Companies are prioritizing the elimination of overlapping responsibilities and redundant positions. This transformation shows in major IT companies, including Infosys and TCS, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra. Companies are currently restructuring their organizations with automation, scrapping roles, and streamlining their operations.
 
CEIL HR, there were 22,000 job roles cut across visual effects, startups, media operations, and IT services in 2025. New roles are opening in sectors like cybersecurity, cloud computing, and Artificial intelligence, says Neeti Sharma, TeamLease Digital CEO. Accenture's former MD says that AI is breaking the old employee equation in IT, which means the workforce is being redefined and companies are shifting towards cognitive leverage.
