Foreign investors are returning to India for investment. In July alone, they invested $2.59 billion due to stability in the Indian rupee and high demand for semiconductors. Due to global tensions, foreign portfolio investors sold their Indian stock portfolio. July has seen equities regain after tax friction removal and eased access to sovereign bonds. Equity investment is more than 61 percent of total inflows, followed by investments worth $697 through a fully accessible route.
There were positive net inflows in the trading session between 1st July and 10th July, and on 9th July, an investment of $978 million. Foreign investors had sold their Indian stocks for four months straight till June, and the withdrawals were worth $5.1 billion. In July, India is the largest destination for foreign capital, which attracted $1.6 billion in the first 10 days of the July month.
Macquarie analyst Suresh Ganapathy said that a huge amount of the inflows is entering financial services. Taiwan and Korea are volatile, and there would be inflows into financials. Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments, VK Vijaykumar, said that great economic fundamental improvement would be seen in the coming days.
